30th Anniversary BBQ Run

Some 30 years ago on the 20th of July 1985 the very first Lake Run was held starting from the Square in Blessington out around the lakes for some 25 old cars and 14 bikes on what was the first event of the Blessington Vintage Car & Motorcycle Club.  Here we have three of the original organisers Wille Nash, Tony Clarke and Billy Flynn on the steps of the Downshire Hotel which served as club base for many years.  In 1985 white coats were used by stewards instead of high- vis vests we see today.

On the 19th of July 2015 we did it all again and thankfully many of the original participants and a few of the original cars could take part.   The rain held off and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent out around the lakes, at the refreshment stop in Valleymount then back in the Square where everyone could admire the cars.  Its a very busy square now compared to 1985 so its much more difficult to accommodate the 60 odd cars that turned up.  The space provided by Billy & Joan Flynn as well as Peter of the West Wicklow Inn  was much appreciated by all.

We had a fantastic BBQ provided by Peter and all the staff at the West Wicklow Inn and to finish off a lovely Birthday Cake.

An enjoyable event to recreate the first club event.  Pat Foley has taken a lot of fantastic photos which are on the Gallery.  Have a look and see if you can find your car. Click here to view them.

Thanks everyone.

Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show/Terenure Show

The club had a fantastic stand again this year with over 60 cars of various ages styles and attractive features.  All shared a common bond of being the pride and joy of their owners and we are delighted with the turnout for the Blessington Club stand to make it one of the biggest and best stands yet again this year.

A hugh thanks to everyone for bringing their cars out especially as we celebrate the clubs 30th birthday.  A special Congratulations to the three cars from the Club stand won awards at the Terenure Show.
