30th Anniversary Autumn Run

As we gathered on the front lawn of Russborough House in Co Wicklow we enjoyed the dry start to the day although we could see the dark clouds beyond the Wicklow mountains to the east. Everyone was in good spirits and looking forward to the day ahead.

It was great to see the return of an old regular of Blessington runs in the form of a racing Frazer Nash proudly displaying its Kildare registration and club badge.
The car was once part of the Colley family collection and was driven on many a Blessington Run over the years by the late Tony Colley.  Its now owned by Shane Houlihan and looked fantastic with its new stainless steel exhaust and a fresh lick of paint yet still retained its lovely aged interior.  Many thanks to Shane for bringing the car along.
The plan for the day was a trip over the Wicklow gap, past Glendalough and a stop for lunch in Roundwood with a finish at the Victorian Field day in Enniskerry.  Many members turned out in victorian dress to reflect the atmosphere of the day.

However the rain awaited us on the east of the mountain gap and the field day had to move to nearby Powerscourt Estate where a wonderful reception awaited everyone.  Well done to Noel Kavanagh and the Enniskerry event committee who had a busy 24 hours to make alternative finish arrangements and we appreciate their efforts.  The sun came out at the end of the day to warm us up before the final lap home.
Thank you to all the participants and to Pat Foley for these great photos. There are more photos available in the gallery.
