The New Year saw us move the regular Monday Meeting out of the West Wicklow Inn for the night and down the road to Noel Hughes garage where a treat was in store with a great presentation on the hard work carried out to restore an original Irish 1911 Reanult Ax.
The will be remembered by many for numerous appearances on Blessington runs over the years with the late Tony Colley at the wheel. It left the family after Tony passed away in 2009 but Noel was able to buy the Offaly car last year and bring it close to home again. A lot of work has been carried out since and the car itself was revealed in ready for paint condition with new wood in place and engine re-bulit and ready to go back in. Noel gave us a great presentation on the interesting history of the car as it moved from Geashill Co Offaly to Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin with new information discovered as the restoration revealed some hidden treasures about the car. We also had a musical version of the cars history to preserve the story. The presentation can be viewed on community “Irish TV” on
Sky channel 191.
Many thanks Noel, Christine and family for their hospitality.
