SPRING RUN MAY 2015,

The first rally of this the clubs 30th year took place on Sunday May 17th from  Russborough House near Blessington, to Athy, Co Kildare when we stopped for for lunch.  While most people adjourned to Hotel for lunch, some hardy souls wrapped up warm for a picnic at the Moat of Ardscull just outside the town.  Its a venue famous in old car circles as the location of the Gordon Bennett Memorial to the Race of 1903 which selected this as a key spectator vantage point for the race.  The road that can still be used today although thankfully the main traffic is carried by a new road nearby which allows old cars to pass in peace and stop a while to savour the history of the spot.

Following lunch the group made its way to the Curragh Racecourse to join up with the display of old Military Vehicles and enthusiasts in various Military costumes.  The Curragh area has a long established close association with Military for British, Irish and also German given the large number of downed airmen held at the nearby Curragh camp during WWII.

Many thanks to all who supported the event and to the committee who put a lot of work into the organisation of it.   A special mention to Pat Foley for these fantastic photos and on this occasion we have one of Pat with his Morris Minor.

Event: Mince Pie Run 2013

Mince Pie Run 2013 visit to Jim & Josie Ginty small

The annual Mince Pie Run took place on the 27th of December, starting in St Kevin’s Community Center, Dublin road Blessington.

The weather started out mixed in Blessington but as we drove into Kildare the monsoon type rains made driving difficult so the stop at Jim & Josie Ginty’s collection of cars and automobilia was well appreciated by everyone as its allowed us get out of the rain and explore the many treasures to find answers to the quiz set by Michael & Brian.

The finish at Toughers helped everyone catch up and warm up and despite the weather this events continues to have a special place in everyone’s diary of events around Christmas season.

Our Thanks to Jim & Josie for their hospitality.
